Welcome to my web site

Sharon is now an elected artist memeber of the GSWA (Glasgow Society of Women Artists).

I was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and when growing up, I soon immersed myself in my first two loves, which were art and music. I studied piano to teaching level with A.B.R.S.M. and followed a career in pharmacy. Art, science and music go hand in hand but I never lost the love of art. My studio is filled with light, a wood-burning stove and in the centre of my garden.

Although I exhibit throughout the year in Scotland, my commissioned work has now travelled afar to Australia, Canada, United States and London. My enthusiasm for travel has taken me all over the world collecting images as I go. I love to infuse my paintings of Scotland, Italy and France with strong colour and light, working mainly from sketchbooks, photographs and slides. Oil is my chosen medium although my watercolours of notable Scottish buildings are in limited edition print.

As an artist, I am constantly inspired by our rich Scottish landscapes and aim to captivate the light and atmosphere, which surrounds our misty glens and rugged coastlines. I use a dramatic eye with bold and bright colours to flavour Italian landscapes and French street scenes

My work as an artist has occasionally diversified as I was commissioned by Christine Lindsay Playwright to provide a backdrop of sensitive line drawings depicting women who had undergone surgery for breast cancer. Elaine C Smith introduced this play and all the proceeds were given to Macmillan Cancer. I regularly donate paintings for charity auctions. My landscape painting of 'Sunlight Over the Cuillins' also features in Lin Anderson's 'The Reborn'. Lin Anderson (MY SISTER) is an Edinburgh Crime writer whose books are now global with her Rhona McLeod exploits.
